To our esteemed patrons and community,
Together, we are all facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global pandemic has affected our families, businesses, communities, and shaken our way of life. Our hearts go out to all those affected directly or indirectly by the virus; we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery to all of those who are sick. Our deepest gratitude goes to doctors, nurses, first responders, police, firemen, grocery stores, pharmacies, airports and all others who serve daily on the front lines.
On March 19th, when the Governor of California’s stay-at-home executive order went into effect, we closed down the bathhouse and massage rooms in accordance with the list of non-essential businesses. The hotel, considered an essential business, has remained open and operates following the suggested cleaning and disinfecting procedures necessary to ensure the well-being and safety of our guests.
Throughout this time we have had to balance government regulations, safety and health concerns, social responsibilities and economic hardships that have arisen as a result of the global pandemic. Just as everyone else, we are navigating extremely difficult financial times, and despite our best efforts to reduce costs to operate within these constraints, the devastating reduction in our income stream, combined with our crippling outstanding debt, the lasting effects of the 2018 wildfire crisis, the exponential increase in insurance premium, and the high cost of maintaining Bathhouse operations, has put us in strenuous financial difficulties, and we are unable to sustain our business as is.
Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that we must inform you we have been forced to make the difficult decision to permanently close the Bathhouse and massage rooms. We assure you, we did not take this decision lightly, and without first exhausting every possible avenue available to us. This news will surely be as hard for you to hear as it is for us to give. We have been sadly forced into this choice, but we are hopeful that with it, and our continued efforts, we will be able to brave these tough times in order to keep the doors of Stewart Mineral Springs’ lodging and retreats open to those who wish to experience the sacredness of this land.
At Stewart Mineral Springs we are extremely grateful to all of the patrons who have been part of our family throughout the years, to all of those who hold the Springs dear to their hearts, and to our collaborators without whom this place would not be the same. We hope that you will continue to support us, as you have done for so long, that together we may enjoy the wondrous blessings this land gifts us.
With love and gratitude,
Stewart Mineral Springs
